Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

What is required for Citi

Jane is useless and her strategy is worthless. She should resign.

  1. Useless Hiring & Onboarding Strategy - She hired lot of people in past 2 years - Infact these people are not yet onboarded completely because of redtape in organization. These people are first one to go in upcoming layoff's.
  2. Focus too much on Diversity & Women empowerment: I am not against women or diversity. But too much investing in those areas really impact real delivery. In the name of women's empowerment, she promoted lots of women candidates who are not fit for that position. This earned wrath of people who are waiting for promotions.
  3. Not employee centric: Still a vendor and consultant driven company. Major technology and code logic are in mind's of developers
  4. Favorite Hires: Manager's can promote whom ever they want. They can hire any one from street. This layoff is going to increase the "redtape" as "people try to save their friends and families". A Strong shuffle is required between managers and employees.

Real stuff will be revealed.

  1. Most projects are hanging without completion. Who is really tracking deliveries ?
  2. A real good Data strategy. Citi's data are not properly organized.
  3. Lots of approvals and flow are still manual even after consent order . So the program is just an eye wash. if government and regulatory scrutinize, Citi still has to pay hefty fine.
  4. Layoff all Consultants and Vendor's and make VP's, SVP's and Director's to be Hands-on in Technology and Business. Focus on really good architects for each project
  5. Focus on Customer centric project's. Improve customer experience. Till you don't satisfy them you won't get business you will still steer down hill.
  6. Business analyst, senior manager's who focus on too much documentation to be removed. A Direct Business to Tech relationship should be maintained.
  7. Employee benefits and perks are too low. No steps to improve Employee skills is taken. Still lots of internal useless courses

Basically Citi has become a org of monkey's trying to pull other's tail.

I agree with OP. Citi needs new generation of leadership. The current leadership is rotten and broken beyond repair!

What do you mean, “ until a few weeks ago no one mentioned layoffs”???

There were 5000 layoffs around March. There has been talk of layoffs all year and last. Citi has been setting up for this restructuring since they started divesting of businesses outside the US over the last few years. You’ve been asleep!

2023 has been a weird year. Many projects were cancelled or removed. But until a few weeks ago nobody mentioned layoffs. Leaders said everything was strong and company was good. Now they say everything is bad and need to downsize entire company. Lesson here is trust your own insticts and don’t believe what execs say. Good luck

Im a g-y latino of color and also a military spouse. My husband is currently serving. I also have a masters degree. I was laid off so diversity means nothing at this point. No one is safe.

I’m sure you’ll be the first on Citi’s list - with all the other poor whiny white men! Enjoy your weekend!

So why are you still working there? Stand in your truth and quit in protest.
