Ford engine failure

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/us-expands-probe-ford-engine-131543501.html

This is why Ford wasted over $3 billions per year for recalls and warranty cost.

Ford quality is in the toilet.

Need I say that indirectly (or directly) that quality issues like this will be a thing of the past with the upcoming Model e BEV mobility products?

Getting rid of ICE/mechanical powertrains eliminates ICE design and quality issues from the company's quality liabilities. This is a prime example why the Ford+ Transformation Plan will improve Ford quality for our customers.

Well, over the last ten years Ford has gotten rid of all of the people who actually understand the industry. What do you think was going to happen? Maybe they can fix it with a software update?

OK, so here's the deal about valves. The metallurgy is important, so is the joining process of the valve head to the stem. Yep, these are two parts welded if you like. The molecular composition of both is critical, heat treat of the face and weld temps all have to be right to create a system that exhibits infinite life while exposed to a high varient in face temps and gas pressure loads due to the twin turbo set up. I don't know what went wrong here, but I can say most of this process happens at the suppliers because the process is so unique. Yes FORD has been making, buying and using valves for over 100 years. Having them live in high power density applications isn't trivial and is relatively new. No excuses here, just sharing - it's a demanding application and looks like something as obscure as grain size of boundary imperfections at the microscopic level got missed and the weld fatigues in some combinations of metallurgy/heat load/valve face heat treat. I'm sure those who are living with this have this all figured out by now. That's called "experience." The posters who have said the senior folks who've left for whatever reason may have known better, maybe did or maybe did not as in their time the twin turbo combo wasn't a mass production power plant with it's unique physics. My take away, knowledge is gained by testing, fixing broken iron, and root cause investigations that loop back into the spec. Ignoring "experience" is a dangerous thing for any company to flirt with. My 2 cents...

Are you delusional? Quality hasn’t been cr-p just the past two years. Your so called skilled boomer friends were here before 2022 when the million other recalls occurred. These same people trained the new ones now. So really it is an issue with that “skilled” boomer generation.

Maybe you should try to lace up you boot straps and get to work on that cr-p ford while the rest of us drive Toyota and Honda now.

Even in the 2000s ford stood for “f*ck on race day” “found on road dead”.

This is what happens when parts are made in LCC. With horrible QOS.

Ford does not have the knowledge and know how to build good quality products. Ford engineers hire outside engineers to do the designs and the work for them. Ford engineers just pay the bills. That's how is has been for many years. When nothing changes, therefore nothing improves. It's the same old song.

The chief engineers, technical specialists and senior engineers with deep institutional knowledge of the concern have either been cut 2022.

I wish good luck to the remaining teams (North American group working with Brazil/India/Mexico) to address the concern and recommend what’s best for customer.

Too bad ‘software designed vehicle/data and analytics company’ cannot solve this quicker. Pipe dream.

It's nothing new about Ford quality.

Fix Or Repair Daily = F.O.R.D.
