Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

H1B's ? Consultant's ? US workers ?

Every one will be affected. But how much % of each will be ?
How much office politics and redtape in company is going to play in retaining favorites during this layoff ?

H1B - if they lose job, they have to return back to their country as 60 days notice period can't be met due to upcoming holidays.
Consultants - their parent companies can save them. But they are bound by contract and can stay for a while.
US workers - Many families will be missing their Christmas & Thanksgiving gifts this year

Lots were hired during the covid and last 2-3 years without real business needs and many don’t have the right skills. They are also paid higher. Several converted from consulting companies. So the trimming required now but it will be the long term employees who will be trimmed and not the new ones

Whoever wrote the main post is quite misinformed. H1b can always just convert to spouse h4 EAD or even B1/B2 (if without spouse).. they do not have to leave lol .. I just think that it boils down to who fits into the new structure and strategy.. nothing to do with those on work visa or not..

H1B pure managers should go. Unless they are doing real Business or Technical stuff.
