Can anyone who has experienced this comment. I’ve read the company’s severance policy: PTO will be given, but it doesn’t say whether or not this will be included in the severance payment or will this be paid out on you last payroll paycheck? Remember the severance and last payroll paycheck are two different things.

Previous poster is correct. Accrued PTO is on last paycheck. Keep in mind that if you are someone who has never used your available days that you will not get paid for all days that you haven’t taken unless your last day is December 31st as they are prorated.

For severance, depends on when you sign the General Waiver, etc. you are also given the opportunity to defer it to 2024 to not get hit with a potentially higher tax liability on your 2023 tax filling. If signed on last day of work, typically takes up to 45 days. If deferred until 2024, payment is made sometime before March.

All of the above is for managers, as I was one and was impacted by Sept 8th off payroll surplus.

Yes, PTO is on the last pay check. That's "earned" PTO, not all that you may have remaining, but prorated throughout the year. I believe some states require them to pay out all remaining PTO, but in most it's prorated.

Accrued PTO is paid in the last paycheck. Severance will be triggered when you sign and send in the document you are given on your last day. It takes 30 - 40 days to process and will then just be deposited in your regular account. You have 90 days to sign and send the severance document from your last day. In my case (I took an MVO), left on 9/28/21, singed an sent severance doc on 12/10/21 (you get a bounce back email so you know it was received). Got severance payment in Jan. 2022. This made sense for me for tax reasons (you will get a regular W-2 for the severance payment in the tax year it was paid). This may be something to consider for people separating late in the year to consider.
