Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Uk

There is a rumour that sites in the uk won’t be paid wages this month or next month and the mixer side is up for sale for free as long as you pay it’s debtors off in full

That’s a good idea, stick to the standard stuff, leave the high end and high value stuff to the competition who can make it work and profit from the non standards things.

Trouble is, we’re no good at the standard stuff either.

Is it true that AxFlow are looking to use our competitors in certain markets as Mono is so hard to work with?

Also heard they are never seeing anyone from Mono and question their intentions with regards to the business, believe that Mono, through NOV will disappear in the next few years

Just seen that sharing in growth guy wondering round site aimlessly. He’s put on loads of weight.

Yep specials are being moth balled. We don't have to staff to do them. Pumps is bad but Mixers very bad. All PM's then join just run away as we are just not investing. Even shunted the main guy there as a redundacy. Proves they don't care. They just want to sell standard stuff from a catalogue. Wish we had one

My boss said last week Shiney Pants has told Houston the office is gone...No workers left. All just milking the Working from home game...The agreed and boot coming...Also need to get back to selling standard stuff. Too much money lost on Speacials. That also will be looked at......I just want my bacon buttie back

Monday tomorrow so another working from home duvet day for our sales team.
Question - why aren’t we selling more pumps and mixers. Is there no more demand? Do our competitors sales teams work harder?

It’s Wednesday tomorrow so we all come in the office for a catch up. Usually free food too. How are things on the shopfloor? Don’t see anyone anymore.

Yep. Only reason I mentioned Lambert is he was transparent and didn't hide agendas. Thus bunch of SLT as they call themselves are leeches. Hiding in plain sight doinging nothing. Anyway all office happy as ICP coming. Some of us here get it also. One happy moment then 11 months of job searching. Unless we get bought first.

Agree with all the comments except the Lambert thing, he would not be good at reviving the company given the state it’s in.
Best thing would be for completely new owners, ideally not American and who could come in, put their own people in to the key positions and try to turn this thing around.
It’s a big job and may be beyond anyone saving it but certainly Lambert would be way out of his depth!

Number 1. Lambert will be a breath of fresh air in this toxic wasteland.

  1. Sad to say the Americans actual kept us afloat these last 4 years . All break even and that basically means no progression.. with the mixers losing money left right and center ther is no hope.

Thirdly, the children in the senior roles are all in it together. They make sure they ki-l and new direction. Making their own kigdoms as they can't survive anywhere else.
Apart from that all is ok

Someone mentioned Lambert coming back!
Does anyone realise how toxic and destructive this guy was for the business?
Lambert was the example of how not to run a business, having said that, NOV take some beatibg in terms of how to ruin a once well respected and professional business.
Letting the Americans loose on the business was the start of the end, they then added the mixer business because in their minds, pumps and mixers are the same market.
Looking back, obviously a big mistake.
Then they decided to start employing children in senior roles, naive and no experience of real world managing a business, all the experience left the business and that will be he down fall of this once good business.
We were previously world number 2 supplier , at least in pumps, today we would be luck to be number 5!
That worked then!!!!!!

The only results bilko got was to demoralise people and stop progress. That said, he would’ve seen SIG coming a mile off and shown them the door.

My super told me last week the money they are paying SIG is astronomical. Not even fixed.
Also, that dragonfly thing has cost over $15million. I feel sick. All that money basically peed up a wall.
The leaders don't lean. Just burn money and pay others to do their job.
Bring back Lambert. Even Bilko had some results. He even tried to make a difference.

Guys. Let's all hold hands and move on....
SIG and our great leaders are working it all out...
Hold on. Nearly there....

That just about sums up people in the business, they actually think a paddle on a shaft driven by a motor or gearbox is new technology!
Unbelievable but not unexpected.
Sums up you mixer people too!

Relying on simple pumps has kept us in the dark ages. The world has moved on and pumps are still wartime technology. More mixers please

Shame. I missed the desk move. Slept in Friday and by time I woke up I nearly felt guilty working from home. Then I thought about how all you guys plY hide and seek each day I was at peace.
Sunday night and its that time of dread when you need to get up early and start of a new week of toil. O no. I will work from home. Another shot for me.. See you Tuesday.

I’m sure you’re better at moving desks than selling pumps or mixers, most of you have missed you’re way in life

Why would moving desks make you look busy? Strange comment 🤔

Bit of a move round in the office to make us look busy lol. Most of the desks have an inch of dust because of our working at home benefit. Can’t beat a nice lie in during winter. Big savings in petrol too.

And there was me giving you credit for at least a basic understanding of how this works!

Orders is all of our problem, we feed you and give you the ability to work at this wonderful company.

If we do bot get orders then you have nothing to do, that’s why it’s so surprising that there is always overtime available.

What can you possibly be doing in overtime? Maybe you have a sideline going and make things to sell yourself?

Make the most of it because if we get even less orders than now, someone may look a little closer at what’s actually happening in the works.

Best of luck getting another job, if you can

Lack of orders is your issue. You can't sell for toffee. We are treated like cheap labour whilst you strut around in your underpants at home...You mixer folk need to step up and stop living of our legacy.
Get orders and get In.

Sorry, forgot to mention that is office people actually deserve a bonus as we are the only ones creating the profit in the business, not just taking the money and giving nothing back, like you shop floor lot.

Post ID: @2hvxm+1oaDSyTY

We get our bonus once a year, you get yours throughout the year under the heading “overtime”.
Think of the energy we are saving the company by working from home!

They may as well shut the big office. 5 people “working” in a building the size of a football pitch. Nobody there to support the business when they are needed.

Obviously, I can work from home in supervised unlike you shop floor types who always need someone watching to make sure you’re doing your job

Post ID: @2gqrt+1oaDSyTY

You shop floor types couldn’t survive if it wasn’t for us office people doing such a great job and getting the work for you to do!
You could say us office staff pay your wages and allow all that unnecessary overtime to be done.

Now right there is the problem…
As long as I can remember there had always been overtime for friends, in fact I’m sure it’s part of the salary package for some of the factory workers where as us office people only get paid a flat wage no matter if we do 35 or 50 hours a week, makes no difference!
The factory workers have had overtime even when the business was on its knees, like now really, close the place, it’s toxic
BTW, merry Christmas, it could be the last here
