Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Tues 8/22

Probably not the huge doomsday event the board is waiting for, but between one and several hundred across the bank via a variety of displacement vehicles or reasons. Another textbook shaping operation, small and diffuse to keep it under the radar and maximize secondary effects like voluntary resignations from survivors.

This is probably no surprise to people here. There is very much a 'pipeline' feel to this with multiple cohorts of small displacements being prepped months out for Tuesdays after payday and yes, Technology is affected.

"eat a bag of di-ks guys! Santa left me presents so he's totally real!"

You came back to claim you were right, without any substantiation beyond what we already knew (and nobody denied) from WARN notices and news articles 😆 And yet again, literally no one was claiming layoffs aren't happening at all, so redirect your delusional gotcha somewhere else. Make a real claim with new info that can be proven or disproven, not some weird deliberately vague sh-t we already know like a cold reader talking to ghosts.

But I'm sure you'll keep setting up and knocking down those strawmen, it's the hallucinated oppression you get off on.

The company is changing drastically.

  • offshoring is happening (even for groups that have no business being sent overseas).
  • layoffs are happening twice a month
  • leadership does not care about your input.
  • RTO is not for collaboration
  • most leadership is here for the money, no one is trying to fix anything.

If you don’t see it still not sure what to tell you.

Agreed. The numbers don't lie. Career genocide is in process. The only question is, when will it stop. I'd guess the end of 2024, but really I think the correct answer is when CS and SP are no longer in Hudson Yards.

@3kxc+1oaHMnwp: "OP quit upvoting yourself and all the comments you wrote. it’s obvious and pathetic."

I have no idea who the OP is, but people like the post. It is what it is. Just deal with the reality instead of whining. It's ridiculous how you've been down voting yourself to play the victim. It's obvious.

I don't think they actually are doubters. I think they are infiltrators, likely sent by the company to sew doubt about the truth. I've been on this forum for a few years and it wasn't until recently that every specific layoff-related post received multiple 'don't believe it, it's not true' responses. I think this person, or persons, are likely lackies trying to confuse 'the masses'. If you haven't seen friends, coworkers, and associates termed over the last year, you either have your head in the sand, are very siloed in a group that hasn't yet had much impact, or simply don't know many people here and are ignorant of what's happening. Either way, this chorus of doubters posting in every single thread on the subject is very suspect in their motivations and I smell a rat.

The truth of the matter is that Hudson Yards wants the smallest possible domestic workforce and they also want all pre-Sharf employees gone. If they haven't got to you or your group yet, good for you, but recognize that it's a matter of time.

true. remote and non core sight folks are being let go. not all just $ targets to hit and they are the easy people to let go.

I suggest doubters here go read the WARN act notices for the state of Florida. A Wells Fargo location in Orlando is losing over a 100 people from 8/23 to 10/6/23. It’s all there in black and white:

Headcount is posted in every quarterly report and the annual report, although they post 2 or 3 documents for each and it isn't always in all 3 documents. I think WFC is at 233k official headcount for the end of Q2 2023. We don't know where the end target is, but implication is somewhere around 220k for year end 2023 (voluntary departures help, it's not all layoffs).

If you mean where does it end in the big picture, nobody knows. For all we know Wells might become a digital-only financial service company with zero in-person footprint and outsource absolutely everything to 3rd party companies and contractors.

Kind of like Apple, which has 500,000 workers when you count Foxconn and the retail stores, but only something like 20,000 technology workers designing the products as full Apple employees. Wells might be headed down that road over the next 50 years as paper money (cash & checks) are phased out of society.

Banking just isn't a good industry to be in anymore.

What is the WF headcount? Where do the generals need it to be before enough is enough?

In order to meet the target financial goal for the fiscal year 2023, they have to cut certain number of employees before 10/31 (it needs to be completed 2 months before 12/31 due to the 60 day notice period). So this biweekly layoffs could continue at least until 10/31. They don't do it all at once, but do it in smaller numbers so that the media attention can be minimized. For the next year's headcount reduction, it depends on the financial position and forecasts, which probably needs to be updated to reflect the new financial penalty. WF really needs to stop committing violations and getting fined all the time. Those are a big money drainer.

This won't end at the end of the year. It'll end when there's no domestic drones left, just execs.

Hudson Yards has been terming at a rate of about 1000 people a month for quite some time. Other than that no, there's no terms happening anywhere, it's all a grand conspiracy and lies.

You heard it first here guys: greater than 1 employee may be laid off on Tuesday. And there wont be any proof either, because that's part of the conspiracy.

Sounds legit!
