Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Happy Anniversary - 1 Year since 8/22 SIRP!

Happy 1 year Anniversary to my fellow SIRP colleagues!
So how's everyone doing? Me, I found a new job in 3 months at another OEM. Shorter commute, better pay, great boss, and better culture. Looking back I can say Ford really did me a favor. For the last year, I've actually enjoyed attending town halls where they are reveling in the fact they are crushing Ford and don't belittle me or outright lie! The SLT keeps saying no layoffs and we're hugely profitable so after my experience at Ford I don't trust what they say but it's sure nice to hear! Can't tell you how nice it is to have a CEO who isn't a complete psycho!
Sorry to hear the next round is upon you folks and I hope my former friends and co-workers are OK. Best of luck!

Happy 1 year anniversary everyone. Being let go from Ford was a blessing. Although I got along with most of my colleagues, it was amazing to see how people reacted to me when they are faced with fear of the same outcome. I truly know now who is sincere and genuine. Don't ever let fear take hold. Surrender yourself and know you gave 110% and move forward with confidence and a positive attitude. The rest will fall into place

@1xje The family doesnt care! They are more concerned with their trips to St Tropez and if they have proper spoon for their caviar. If they did care, Billy would be looooong gone and not the chairman. If they cared the last 2 buffoon CEO's wouldnt have been hired. If they cared, Quality is job 1 would still be the mantra. There was an interesting article a year or 2 ago that stated the theory that the founders of successful companies create the business. The second generation expands on that business and the third generation destroys it. In our situation, it took 1 additional generation to turn us into a pile of dung.

I was gone 11-30 regardless. I asked and they gave me the best thing I got in 30+ years there; 9 months pay without working a day.
It's been a great year and the bank account is actually higher now than when I left. Significantly, due to the market and those Fed interest rate hikes.
Of course my pension would have went up 5% (Fed T-Bill rate) had I stayed at Ford.......

A former coworker and I were kicked to the curb last Aug. His new job is much lower stress. I hear this over and over. Ford was a toxic work place thanks to Mr steel case and Chris Farley.

In other news. Engineering is training Ford of Mexico workers here. Train them in then poof you are gone.

Ford lost its way. I used to bleed Ford blue. A year ago it was hard to take I’ll admit. Found a job in 2 months after the separation with a company with my values. No vax mandates. Not woke. Pride ourselves as American made and most importantly believe in God!

With 33 yrs and lower lump sum projections I was leaving anyway. I just raised my hand at every opportunity and let my management know I wanted out. I was picked and others were not.

HR did not have the savvy to do a smart redesign. They could have surveyed all the engineers that were retirement eligible and come up with a win win retirement glide path for a whole group of people.

The path of Ford is pretty much set as long and Jim is in charge. It is a shame to invest so much time and money into people and then one day determine they are insignificant. When Jim gets his day there will be nobody left to save the company.

Right on OP ! I was let go this past June and although I haven't found another job yet, I feel so much better being out of the psycho-ward at ford ! The last 7 years were very toxic indeed. p.s. I gave up my management lease a long time ago and have an older F-150. I will NEVER buy another ford POS product again, EVER. Botox Billy's politics is more important to him than anything, so . . . F Ford First ! (as they continue to F everyone else).

It was a guy punch but in hind site I probably would have retired anyway when they announced the one lump sum would drop 25% in 2023.
