I can't wait to see this happen. There is so much pointless middle management at VMware that needs to be shown the door as soon as possible. There are too many people who "have to" give their input when things need to be done that end up contributing nothing of importance. I am excited about the future, I'm not going to lie.

Don't worry it will work itself out at Broadcom. Look at how many direct reports Hock has. They are really lean.

Speaking of myself, I am not scared of myself as I am a hands-on IC. Pretty confident i will get something in 2-6 months.
What i am super happy about is that my id--t director who has 0 technical knowledge, keeps on putting pressure to get things done so he can look nice in front of his seniors - Will get Laidoff . Soon
Sr Manager, Director or Sr Director are levels that redundant and overpaid for what it is. At that level, they are out of touch of the very front line or not high enough for strategic planning, worse their planning often do more harms than good. You do see those type of Just-Go-Do-Something projects to look busy or satisfy their development goals. Those initiatives pull a lot of people in and costing their time and company's budgets. Manager still relevant to the front line in most cases. Senior Manager probably have the least value. They are good at echoing emails and scheduling pointless meetings. I see them really struggling to fine values within themselves.

Same issue at the U.S. HQ, lot's of VMW lifers engaged in pointless busy-work.
There may be many reasons why VPs and Directors stay for decades at VMware, but the most common seems to be career apathy and deep-rooted fear of change and growth.
Agreed. Management who have been there 15+ years in UK for example who don’t roll their sleeves up and get stuck in. Ie aligned themselves to key customers and show leadership. It’s not all about managing spreadsheets and hitting BU metrics.
