Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Culture!

RTO is for “culture” yet they eliminate the roles responsible for culture! These guys should be politicians!
Employees have more of the power! Dont buy your lunch at the office, abuse this watercooler talk they advocate for! Live and work everyday like you’ve already been laid off and not giving a cr-p! The term “you get what you pay for” …..Cr-ppy merits and bonuses, less benefits….equals cr-ppy non productive employees. Let them spend all their money on reports and tools to focus in on micro managing employees rather than being innovative and offering competitive products. Thats the skillset our ceo brings to the table. Cuts vs becoming a competitive force! This ceo loves playing the blame game! Blame it on the market conditions, guess what, progressive exceeded their goals last year! Whats USAA’s excuse? Sad that working at USAA used to draw conversation attention like “oh wow, you work there, how lucky”. Now its almost embarrassing to mention, you get a look and comments like “oh, i heard about that place”. I reply with yes, i work there..for now!

I think this article describes the situation well:

I concur.. The problem is execs not only cut the culture team, they ki-led the trust with the way they handled RTO. Throw in micromanagement, layoff, and that the USAA "product" has become short-term expense reduction.

Unfortunately the new normal for a USAA employee is being on some type of strong anti-anxiety or anti-depressant. The toxic culture is destroying employees mental health. The “do more with less” slogan is causing employees to tune out just to make it through each day. Everyday employees are being pushed to their breaking points with the extra work and the micromanaging. Now we are adding 3 and 4 day RTO to the mix. People are going to reach their breaking points faster and leave or get kicked out.

You do realize that if no one eats and drinks at the office cafes, then the cafe workers will lose their jobs!
