Following the practice of Tuesday layoffs, people in Springfield, IL were given notice today. The office was originally being sold, but two different buyers have backed out, so the plan now is for the building to sit vacant.

I’m in Springfield, former Correspondent employee. This is, at best, an overdramatic post. There have been less than 10 people working in that building for months. Those people are working to wrap up the remaining pipeline. If anyone was given notice, it’s them, but I heard their work wasn’t expected to fully wrap until January. The building has already been 99% vacant since COVID.
Most of the Correspondent people were let go earlier in the year, but this was the remaining Correspondent people, so a smaller group.
For people not familiar with the Springfield, IL site, it was mostly Correspondent and Mortgage personnel. There were a handful of people outside of those business groups.
I have one coworker located in Springfield and she said she's heard nothing. Fake news?
there used to be correspondent lending there, but they were already long gone since home lending announced exit of the correspondent lending channel earlier this year.
Never realized we had a presence there.
Those are some serious cost cuts in Springfield. Real estate is second fiddle.
Yes, give some details, please, OP! Was this like 5 people or 500 people? What departments were affected? I think a lot of folks are watching threads like this one for specifics.
How many people? Did everyone at the site get notice today or portion? Is this a mortgage site and if so, what were specific departments?
Is that the same Springfield as The Simpsons?
Or are they in a different Springfield?
