Ford in a "No win" situation

But guess who the biggest losers will be? Salaried employees. Those billions will have to come from somewhere. Look for the acceleration of job cuts coupled with hiring in LCCs.

Makes no sense, the engineers leading all heavy duty engineering are those with significant seniority. They are almost the closest we have to irreplaceable. Who would you recommend replace them? The lifelong F&F paper pushers or the DEI recently promoted , both who contribute very little and know even less?

At several divisions a new list of personnel to be SIRP'ed has been developed. LL2 and LL3 have chosen those who will be leaving by the end of the year or earlier. This last minute list was a request by JF / HR so Ford can barely meet UAW requirements. One White Collar w/pension ~ = 6 Blue Collar with current salary standards. This time all those w/pension will be out (30+, 25+ and 20+), HR already know the recipe to avoid age discrimination lawsuits. UnSE already started cancelling several projects in USA (Hybrid, etc.) and moved them to China in order to make space for coming SIRP. Research & Advanced Engineering already started to quietly whisper to young people to start looking for jobs outside Ford.
Every Division has a different timeframe to SIRP but for sure is before the end of the year. As a HR rep mentioned to close friend of her who do not work for Ford but who is my neighbor, the only way to meet UAW demands is by SIRP'ing all white collars w/pension.

As we speak it looks more and more like Ford will give the UAW a vast majority of their demands. It is correct to assume that the money will have to come from somewhere. Salaried folk are going to be the sacrificial lambs because it isn’t going to come from the House.

Salaries cuts coming after contract is settled. JF has to pay for it some way.

Knowing that it will take less people to make electric vehicles, they will probably offset the cost from attrition.
