Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Layed Off…branch out…

Regardless of what your role is, programmer, number cuncher, project manager, secretary, tech, etc… there are other employment sectors out there other than finance. If you are let go, why ONLY apply for jobs at other banks? Branch out. Try the same job role but instead of the banking sector, try the medical sector, legal, transportation, etc…. they are all hiring to you know. A tech person at Citi, can be a tech person at Koch or Walmart or Kellogs. A number cruncher at Citi, can also be a number cruncher at a hospital, or anywhere else that needs one.

Why limit yourself?

Use LinkedIn job search. It has two very useful job search filters of salary range and work from home. You can plug in your range and “work from home” tic box and do your search.

There are companies out there that don’t care how many states away you are so long as you’ve got the skills. So, naturally they allow WFH 100%.

There is a bottle neck for H1B and Greencard waiters as they have to retain same title as in their I-140's.

great advice! I was cut and I'm looking to move into another sector. One that is less volatile. Banking was fun while it lasted!
