Nurses

Any nurses been out of the hospital/bedside care game for a long time working here at Elevance having to go back to that role after RIF?

  1. Not even sure hospitals would hire nurses on after being away for so long
  2. The anxiety is real! Nursing and bedside care is not as easy as riding a bike with so many changes to skills etc!

I went back to working in a clinic after leaving another insurance company with no problem. You’ll be fine. Nurses overthink things.

I believe nurses will always be in demand. You could even work as a case manager in the hospital. You don't have to do direct patient care

There is no clinical requirement to keep your license in my state. We just have CEU’s due every 2 years. That’s it period.

Registered Nurses who do non-clinical work know they need to keep up a certain number of hours a month to maintain their RN licenses. I assume the RNs who worked for Elevance Health knew this and have kept their nursing clinical hours. I know this as my DIL is a RN doing non-clinical work for the Federal government but works at least one weekend a month in a hospital doing clinical work to keep her RN license.

There's a nursing shortage in a lot of cities. That's in your favor. Good luck!
