Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Companies posting jobs but not hiring

I keep seeing this and it makes me so angry. All they do is waste our time. That's the last thing I need when I'm already so stressed over layoffs.

This is not specific to Allstate, many companies do this and sometimes it isn't on purpose but something happens and they have to stop the hiring process. There are also companies that have postings up to "pipeline" candidates so they can reach out to them in the future. I had this happen to me when the company contacted me 2 years after I applied to them, sorry already have a new good job.

I interviewed a person who accepted a position, started on a Monday and on Thursday her entire team was laid off, she was devastated and rightly so.

To the person that said your worst day at Progressive was better than your best day at Allstate, well I will say a person's worst day at any job outside of the insurance industry is better than the best day in the insurance industry. I was in the industry for many years, know people that have worked at pretty much every company and while you may be in a good place now I know many at Progressive that hate their life, one said at one point she loved her job, then her manager changed and she cries after work nearly every day now.

@wlt+1p4h7occ- That has been happening for awhile now, even before the overseas and vendoring out of jobs started. They would post for a rep position or for a siu position and then have us interview for it and then either move it to another office or just close out the offering. My favorite was when they made me apply for the represented position, go through the stupid pre interview, with questions "like so you live here and you would need to travel to here to work in this office, is that going to be a problem?" Uh, yea because Ive been working in this office for 10 years now, so duh yea... it'll be a problem, even though I already work here.. for 10 years now. Ridiculous and insulting. AND THEN after the pre interview you had to actually interview with a manager you've been working with for years and the head of the MCO who you've had countless interactions with and answer cr-p like "why do you want to work here?" and "what characteristics do you have that you think would make you a successful employee?" What?!!! you tell me, you freakin mo--ns. I've only been working for you for 10 years now, you should tell me the type of employee you see me as since I've only had 10 pds's so far. It's like should I laugh or look for the impractical jokers camera? or is this company undercover for the CIA and is actually serious about this.. maybe just playing some mind F*ck game with us to see how much BS we will take? I remember after going through all that cr-p and being told that everyone has to interview now, then 2 months later they go and bring 5 people into the rep unit without interviewing them. SO full of SH!T man. They always have been though. Such a terrible place... Allstate. They really don't have any respect for the employees. It's no wonder the company is failing.

Allstate does them one better. They post jobs, they interview you, they hire you, and then they retract their offers because not even the heads of departments that approve new position postings know that areas are being offshored and reduced. I have had a few people tell me they were hired into other roles trying to get ahead of being cut only to have their offers retracted a few days later keeping them in their current expendable roles.

Don't bother trying to move within this company. They will sc--w you no matter what.
