I saved money throughout the years so I don’t have to work anymore, even though I’m not at retirement age please everyone save your money now and as much as you can. When they laid me off, I had a big smile said thank you and who do I speak to regarding the severance package I even asked my manager if she thought I was going to be upset because I’m not and now I can just retire just keep your head up and let this be a lesson for everybody. I am probably one of the few that was thrilled to get laid off I learned at a young age not to let the company I work for get the upper hand. I left the Zoom call so happy as I took all the power from her I’m sure my manager was very upset that I was not upset

Ignore the word yesterday in my last post I was laid off beginning of the year. All that matters is that I had satisfaction with the way I handled it
Post ID: @1tmp+1p8LRtOu You may very well b. correct. It really doesn’t matter what she thinks it’s how I felt after handling my layoff yesterday. I don’t give a cr-p about her and the funny thing is she doesn’t even work there any more. I just feel satisfied with the way I left. No regrets.
Your manager didn't give a 💩 how you felt once way or another. Your asking her if she thought you would be upset was meaninglessness. They don't care. They cross your name off the list, move on to the next and then go on to their job without a thought about you except to make sure your personal stuff is gone from the office. Out of sight, out of mind. As long as you're at peace.

I can guarantee you 2 minutes after that zoom call your manage forgot you even existed, stop making business personal nobody cares at the end of the day in corporate america, pay your bills and thats it.
The ultimate flex is having time, and doing what you please in that time. All these fools who are focusing on a type of car, or house in a certain neighborhood, or country club membership, are really missing the forest for the trees. Congrats to the OP. Enjoy your retirement

You are almost retired. Your son/daughter might be out of college or sitting near you in work. You are the person who goes to Hawaii twice a year. But there are families who struggle for monthly paychecks.
You might not speak loud if we hack and drain your bank account.
Employees are humans and each human has a family behind to support. Think on humanitarian basis how these people will survive during layoff around Christmas.
Can you spend your Christmas happily if you are let go ?
Not sure how many are missing Christmas, new year. I wish some miracle happens for each person.
