After seven years of operation US giant Chevron is burying just a third of the carbon pollution it committed to burying at its Gorgon gas export project, risking damaging the credibility of a technology gas producers are relying on to allow continued production.

The carbon storage was just a scheme to fool the Australians and it worked. Gorgon got approved. Chevron never really studied it seriously or intended to do it.
This has been known for a while now, and Chevron is doing nothing (or can't do anything) to mitigate the situation. Notice how such setbacks are never addressed in stockholder or analyst meetings. Instead, distract from technical failures with stories about planting trees, building schools, or DEI initiatives.
If carbon capture is a Ponzi scheme then Chevron better prepare to shut down its multi-billion dollar investment in Gorgon and Wheatstone, because the levels of produced CO2 is simply unacceptable. The problems of injecting huge volumes of a very corrosive fluid (liquified CO2) into an aquifer already filled with saline water are not trivial, but if it can’t be done then we better start planning to move beyond petroleum much faster than our current snail pace. That, or start plans to vacate the equatorial areas of our planet.
The whole carbon capture Ponzi scheme is about due to be exposed. It won’t be pleasant for those who’ve completely bought into this nonsense.
Carbon is not a pollution. It is like saying Oxygen is a poison and needs to be gone.
