Citigroup plans to announce on Monday the first big round of lay-offs in a sweeping restructuring — the bank’s biggest revamp in nearly two decades — that will eventually result in thousands of positions being eliminated.

The restructuring, codenamed Project Bora Bora, is in its early stages, people close to the plans said. Citi, which is doing a top-down review of its organisational structure, has only worked through about 1 per cent of the positions at the bank, or about 2,400 jobs out of a total of 240,000. It is not clear how many positions will be cut in this round.

What bonuses? Company will probably cheap on those too.

If you’re laid off now, and get 90 days WARN, technically you’d still be on the payroll when bonuses come out. Not sure they’d allocate you one, but you’d still be employed by Citi at that time.

Post ID: @1kbr+1pDWJp20 : Always Before Thanksgiving Holiday or in December because Employers do Not want to pay the Bonuses in January or February. You need to be an employee in record on the day Bonuses are given out. Axing employees months Before Bonus Day gives Employers time to get their records straight and ducks in order.

There's power in numbers to get and advocate for what you want or need. Hence, finance, banking and insurance employees should and must unionize.

After this Citi Sh!tshow any remaining employees should unionize in order to prevent the same Sh!tshow from happening. How about a catchy union name like Finance Workers of America FWA ?

Hold on folks….remember this is EMT-2 in this round. So, if you are not a C-14-C-16, you are freaking out over nothing. The C-14 & below will not be until the next round after the first of the year.

What’s written on the script? Is it intended for managers to deliver the news or HR?

Citi is playing a game of musical chairs with entire departments and workers careers. Those areas that are left out will be shown the exit door. Thank you for your service and Happy Thanksgiving.

To Post ID: @1koz+1pDWJp20 , it's a toss up. There are negatives and positives to working from home or to the office on Monday Nov20. If you're laid-off at least you didnot waste time and money commuting. If you're in the office, you should tell everyone around you Citi F-ck-ed You, you were laidoff as you walk through the hallways and lobby w/Security guards in tow. Turn the beat around. Citi is hoping employees will be so humiliated and fearful that they'll just bow their heads and hide from the public. Turn the negative and humiliating attention onto Citi like in the movie Ransom, starring Mel Gibson.

So The Hunger Games will happen on Monday Nov.20, 3 days before the Thanksgiving Holiday. This just screams "Citi is kind, sympathetic and empathic!" May the odds be in your favor! This is Not an event or game anyone wants to be chosen for ! Citi is playing Rvssian r0ulet with all of its employees until March 2024. Maybe you'll get "chosen" or maybe not.

Reuters:

…cut 50% of internal financial management reporting and centralize decision making, … Support staff in compliance and risk management, and technology staff working on overlapping functions are at risk of being laid off

So if someone had a conversation about layoff with their manager this week, and it seems likely they would be included in some lists that the manager is submitting, will they be laid off next Monday? I thought the management team will need time to access the submitted list and make decision.

First it was Wed, now Monday. Sounds like crying wolf to me

It did start on Wednesday. They have to have all the individual conversations before they announce it out to the masses on Monday.

Is it better to work from home on monday then? I just don’t want to live through the humiliation of having to be walked out of the building:)

Sounds like there will essentially be a draft. Remaining leaders and managers will look at their options like the NFL draft and pick who they want to stay

It is Monday. I personally was read the scripts they had to read to impacted employees. They tell us the org structures on Monday. Lower level positions will be decided as the new orgs look at what they have.

Email announcements are confirmed for Monday. Comms teams are unable to send any other emails… they’re shutting down the whole email tool until 11:55 PM to make way for the org change announcements.
