What has been your salary progession through out your tenure at cvx? Which milestones typically generate the biggest jumps?

I jumped three grades after my milestone achievement of changing genders.
Low end of PSG 25 is about $275k with no LTIP and average CIP. With CIP this year $250k may be low end of PSG 25.
All “placed jobs” are placed at the weekend “dacha” or fishing trip.
"It is as simple as applying for a placed job at the next PSG every 2-3 years. Rinse and repeat."
unless you have solid connection with the owner of a placed job, you will not get it!!! the job is for his/her buddy.
It is as simple as applying for a placed job at the next PSG every 2-3 years. Rinse and repeat.
“Doing your job as best as possible and advancing your knowledge and teamwork will take care of salary progression.” - HR drivel meant to fool people into sticking around with Chevron when the real salary advancements are made by strategically jumping companies. It's funny how people stick to that notion, then complain next March about raises being substandard.
Popcorn, your salary progression amazed everyone considering your ability.
Well said! This is exactly what I've been doing and it's worked for me. I've progressed way beyond what I hought I could do.
“Doing your job as best as possible and advancing your knowledge and teamwork will take care of salary progression.”
This statement below is indication of a fantasy. How absolutely truly naive to the world you live in..
“Doing your job as best as possible and advancing your knowledge and teamwork will take care of salary progression.”
Looks like until you reach psg 25, salary progression is just a fantasy.
Living within your means and saving for a rainy day. Doing these two things alone will make the desire or need for salary progression a less important thing for you. Doing your job as best as possible and advancing your knowledge and teamwork will take care of salary progression.
this year the promotion from 25 to 26 only has 5% raise.
The ranges are quite wide. Generally its about 10% increase in base pay. But you now get 30% LTIP at 26. So about +10% base pay plus 30% LTIP and your CIP goes from 25% to 30% CIP. But keep in mind a 25 makes 125% of their base including CIP. So the net increase is about 30-35%. Still really good but not quite 50%.
I would say low end of 25 is about 250 nowadays (including bonus, you may or may not have stock at 25)
The low end of PSG25 is around $225 and the high end of 26 is nearly $500 including salary, bonus and stock.
If you’re one of the trolls who hangs out on The Layoff, you just wallow in envy of people who actually show up, work hard and perform. Then they get promoted and paid more. Get off your couch and put ins some effort. You’ll get yours. That’s how the real world works.
If you're a HiPot, you get the opportunities, promotions and favored assignments. If you're not then you get what falls through the cracks in the kitchen floor.
"25 to 26, I went from making low 300’s to about 400"
good for you, how much % raise for base salary? what else you got total $100k more? I know 5% more bonus base. LTIP also.
25 to 26, I went from making low 300’s to about 400
The pay grade stock and bonus scale is on the intranet. PSG29 is a 100% stock grant for example.
first 10 years were 10+% raises, next ten years were 0-3% raises, eventually a -100% raise
25 to 26 is bigger jump than between grades below (with the addition of stocks and options worth about 25% of your salary), but it is really the very base of an acceleration of the compensation curve. By 28 and above your salary becomes smaller than the probable value of all the stock and option grants. At the top of the pyramid, your salary becomes almost irrelevant.
i just was moved to PSG26, but I have not received any benefit change info from HR
EB is a magic, I am curious what traits made her a super star?
So far, everyone here misses the point. Yes, 25 to 26 is probably the biggest jump, but realistically not many people make that jump. Petrotechs not high-pots or not in management stall at 25. The surest way to make big salary jumps is to switch companies. Spoken from experience: if you're good at what you do and don't burn any bridges when you leave, you can boost your salary, tinker around in smaller companies, then come back to Chevron with accelerated pay and title. If you're not a clone of EB, you'll never match that with anything you do by staying with Chevron.
EB has been the golden girl since the beginning. I remember management in Aberdeen around 2002 saying she was destined to be the CEO.
I’d have to say getting laid off generated the biggest change in salary
Money is just a perc because first and foremost, it’s about winning every day!
Not sure how EB made such performance that moved her from PSG18 in 1998 to PSG45 or so in 2023? did she really change water to oil??
PSG25 to 26 is about a 50% raise when you include bonus and stock. \???????
this year, I was moved to 26 from 25, 5% increase in salary. how 50% was calculated??
Brown Nosing is always the best way. Washing the Bosses Car or cars on the weekend worked for me. Always agree 100% with everything they say. Never say no to any request.
PSG25 to 26 is about a 50% raise when you include bonus and stock. The other big bump, of course, is from 30 to 41.
I think the record for progression might be EB, who went from PSG18 in 1998 to PSG45 or so in 24 years, so a bump every 15 months or something.
Definitely check with the A-team who hang out on the layoff site. That's gonna be the cream of the crop and they will really have all the inside scoop on the performance of the top of the field. Absolutely. Great idea.
left as a psg 23 went from 180 to 280 and a 40% bonus, stock and honest, competent management, obviously priceless.
25 to 26 is the biggest jump you’ll ever make
Salary profession at CVX is how to play musical chairs, corporate networking and the ability to maintain a position when the constant reorgs happen.
