Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Be frugal this holiday season

Save as much as you can. Layoffs are not over by a long shot. We all love holidays, but if there was ever a time to not spend unnecessarily on that big item or trip you really don't need, this is it. I'm not being a Grinch, I'm just worried with good reason that many of us won't have a job for much longer.

There’s another round in December and January which is odd and they always pull bs before the holidays. We’re all replaceable to this place no matter what your knowledge

I went through layoff before. Generally speaking, the unemployment paychecks from State unemployment office is about 1/3 your current weekly paycheck. Also, state unemployment formula has an upper limit. So, once you weekly earning is over certain upper number, the state still gives the same weekly unemployment paychecks as the lower earnings. So, plan accordingly. The biggest expense will be COBRA, you will have to pay the full premiums for yourself and your family members.
