The original "APEX" team was created to build a public cloud type experience for private / hybrid cloud and sell hardware on a subscription basis. The central piece was the APEX portal which allowed customers to order, view billing, etc. This is now gone. What is left of the team is working on things like "multi-cloud", and future offers. "APEX" term itself, is just marketing for subscription based / as a service offerings.

Dressed up leasing / DFS. A marketing ploy. And very very expensive. More bullsh-t and customers know it

In its current form with its current management, no. It’s a leasing / ordering management system in the cloud with some rudimentary monitoring capabilities. The infrastructure can’t scale and they want to integrate it with Moogsoft. Not going to work unless it’s out of Dell Digital. Dell also doesn’t know how to deliver software, that’s a bit of a problem.

Seems like a lame “wanna be” answer to AWS.

Dell wants Enterprise level mainframe storage customers to buy 30 or 40 million dollars of storage and services on a web site like they are ordering a couple of laptops. Stupid.

It’s dressed up leasing, so in that sense it won’t go away. It’ll never achieve its goal of a cloud like experience for getting and managing hardware on prem.
