Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Has anyone gotten assurance?

Did anyone get assurance at any level that even though there is revamp your role is fine? or are your managers giving ambiguous reply when you ask the question - what about my role? Curious..

I was assured by my C16 that he doesn't know anything because he is Not told anything. Either this is true or he's lying to me and the rest of the team.

@Wyvd+1pILqk1F What about Capital Transformation PMO? I was told that despite having only 1 employee that doesn't technically report to me, I am protected due to the consent order.

If you are a manager and have 2 employees or less under you after these past layoffs, you will be impacted by the end of this month. There is no reason to keep a manager who does not have employees.

Ypu do realize there's a hiring freeze. People Managers have been told Not to fill or replace open jobs of employees who quit. Also several open requisitions have been pulled since Fall 2022, removed from the Citi Careers website. Any open reqs posted or survived scrutiny went through a tough grilling process about why the job is needed for the group/team or manager. There are open jobs out there but All companies are hiring at a slower pace or have fewer job openings.

Coriolanus of DART assured us for months and weeks there would be NO Layoffs in DART. On Monday November 20 there were Layoffs in DART including 4 Top MDs. Cold callous cruel brutal LIES....Trust No one.

No. We have not gotten any assurance and I don't think they can do so. It's been just a bunch of very vague answers or total avoidance. Lol

They're not supposed to assure you that you're safe because that could change. I remember I worked at another firm and we knew layoffs were coming. The CEO called a meeting with my division and let us know about the layoffs. He told us he didn't think anyone in our division had anything to worry about. We were a strong division bringing in revenue.
Well a month or so later guess what? A few of us, me included were cut.
There is no guarantee, even if they tell you that. Things can change.

Guess it depends which department and team you are on for the next phase and whether it aligns to the new org. They already made changes on upper management for my group

@tdf+1pILqk1F - Where did you hear that C14 and lower are next ? If you look at the current org structure, under some of the MDs there are 16 MDS at 5th Level. I think they will look at them first. If there are any headless teams where the C16 is eliminated and they don't have a boss, they may let that team go irrespective of level. While Jane said the next round is January, I heard that there will be one RIF in December 2nd week. Anyone is knowledgeable about it ?

Our C16 has said, far as he knows, we will not be impacted. Our area was already hit in March. But there are no guarantees obviously.

I've been at Citi for a long time. I've seen a lot of people let go at several different levels that have been with the organization for over a decade in many different functions. There's no reassurance unless you're making the firm money.

They all have been saying C14s and lower levels are next and their not sure what will happen. Some employees will be displaced, reshuffled to another team or stay within current role. So no clear answers really.
