Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

This too shall pass…

The one thing that the big C has done for me over the years, is that it has made me numb to it all. Citi has made sure that I’ve been beaten down so much with the threat of an impending layoff that it no longer registers as a problem. Yes, I know that it should but what can I say, it doesn’t.

“You’re safe” “sure, why not”
“You’re let go” “sure why not”

Citi has done everything they could to make sure that I’m as loyal to the company as they are to me. So, I am. I’m as loyal to the company as the company is to me, how is this not fair. Just how they can lay me off with no notice, I too can lay Citi off and quit with no notice.
To me, this too shall pass.

When it comes to Jane and the upper echelon making decisions on the layoff….cue the Benny Hill chase music here.

What confuses me are the posters on this site that post under the assumption that the only place you can ever work is at Citi. Forget the financial sector, move to some other sector. Why hop to another bank? Why limit yourself?

I was thrilled to get a package after being at citi over three decades they give me a favor as I was thinking of quitting but I wanted Citi to pay for my years of service

Yeah, that's kind of how I'm feeling. Been with them for almost two decades and it's getting old. I don't want people to lose jobs but I'm kind of secretly hoping for the layoff myself. The package would be enough for me to start something fresh and actually feel productive in the real world.

Same here. 20 years and been through 9 sets of layoffs. It’s old news at this point.
