Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

I'm worried it's about to continue

I know this is an irrational fear, I know we know we are done for the year, but I still have this feeling I can't get rid of that's making me think they're gonna drop even more cuts on us as soon as next week. I'm this close to quitting and accepting a job at a small local bank that pays half as much but where people seem much happier and more satisfied with their jobs than I have been in a while.

Not done. I was advised of some top rated SVPs that are going to get let go in the next 2-3 weeks. They will also be top candidates for some current openings

Please read and understand. It was stated that there were no more layoffs until early 2024. Then they will happen in Jan, Feb and March. It is also not 10% of the company, it is 10% of some departments. That could mean 10% across the company, but may also not be. Every job is at risk, but will have no more details until Jan.

If you look at Glassdoor the economy is much, much worse than what they say it is. The stock market is being artificially rigged to keep the rally up. The inflation numbers are bogus too.

The misinformation is ridiculous. Numbers are totally fictitious.

Layoffs will be continuing. Non stop until end of March. Please be prepared for the worst.

Small banks have layoffs, too, and quite often. I should know. I worked at one and saw it quite frankly, until it was my turn. It's kind of luck, if you escape it. No guarantee it won't happen there, should you decide to leave.

Layoffs will continue until March 2024.

Only 300 employees were fired last week. There are 23,700 more to go.

Downsizing is bad strategy for investors. It is like selling your big house to move to a small apartment because you cannot afford payment or may not need all the rooms. For a company it means they will have to do same with less people or the business will shrink its revenue.

We aren't done for tbe year. I'm sorry but changes have been happening since September and they will continue until end of Q1.

If you have another offer and feel this worried, then accept it. Your mental health is more important than money. Don't take it for granted.

Accept the offer. I wish I had one. I began my banking career at two small banks, and they were my favorite and I had the best of times there.
