Enjoy 30 years of staying in the same band now. Band 6 for life!!
What about lowly Supervisors? They have just as many if not more direct reports, yet get stuck in band 7
New titles are pretty much the same band.
Current band 5, Director and ED.
Current band 6 AD ,Sen Mgr, Mgr.
New band 5, Sr Dir and Assoc VP
New band 6, Dir, AD, Sen Mgr.
No mentions of MPs or Principal Engineers.
Nothing has changed besides deck chairs unless they add a 4th title in band 6 and close the gap in STI between 12 and 20%.
We know base pay won't change. What really has change?
I don’t understand the obsession on this site about upvotes and downvotes. We are a company of 100k employees a few dozen or even a few hundred is meaningless. Actually no amount of them matters since it doesn’t mean anything.

For management (non-Individual Contributors), the only titles needed are President, Vice President, Director, Manager. This would significantly reduce headcount and payroll. It would make it easier for our major business customers to escalate an issue and get it resolved quickly. What purpose does an Executive Director serve? Is it so the VP can get paid a lot of money with less responsibility?
It's a con-game with titles to make you feel more important, but without the comp changes. Management will still make it hard for you to get promoted.
Just check out the vztube video, there is more to come according to sam and they are carrying on about those titles in the video. Everyone in my team saw it today as it was shared in a group slack chat. Do a search and it should come up.

Here are the title changes
Director -> Senior Director
Exec Dir -> Associate VP
Manager -> Senior Manager
Senior Manager -> Associate Director
Associate Director -> Director
First two are Band 5. Rest are Band 6
Verizon couldn’t afford a RIF or RTO option.
Your new title will be either RTO or RIF.
We get new titles every 2 years to justify having a HR dept... nothing new here, again from @OP
If they are in the contract they shouldn’t be here either since they are immune from layoff too?
Titles are contractual so they would have to be negotiated in 2026.

Whether it will create a larger gap for those abandoned at 7 short term or long term was unclear.
Might be true for certain smaller orgs but not for everyone....there is no such announcement

Announcement was made 2 weeks ago, claiming that it is to align to the market. We did this already so not understanding why we have to go through this again. Impact is to 6V and 5V titles. Wouldn't be surprised to add additional titles so they can make it seem that people are getting promotions. Oh the BS they dish.
