Monday - the entire Nike Smart Systens Engineering team was let go (they are a part of NXT DPC as of a little less than a year ago). I believe 8 members of that ~53 FTE team were retained. I also hear their ETWs are all sitting around with no managers or leaders waiting to get fired. Can’t imagine how they are feeling.

Were only a few people really let go? So far I’m hearing between 6 and 20. I don’t want to see anyone let go but this doesn’t seem like enough to impact the change we desperately need as a company. What’s with the rumors about more today and Friday? Org change? Why wait?

Some exceptional people unfortunately, huge mistake with some of them brought a ton to the team.

I hope some of our leaders realize the error but won’t hold my breath.

I know layoff is a business decision but business decisions do not need to be inconsiderate!!!! They could have come up with their list and just announce it on a Friday afternoon and be done with it.... A last minute email on Sunday evening, followed by a 15 min zoom call early Monday and then this show being dragged so far and no one know when it is over....... .
One should be stupid not to start looking for another job regardless if you are being laid off or not...... Just look for another job

@1fni+1pUJeZWd I am sure their research team will be untouched.... It is likely other teams within NSRl that might be affected, like operations or others. I doubt it would be researchers. There was a Sr. Dir who resigned last week and I wish I was her.... At least she took control of her destiny... she knew it was coming ......

Is it unrealistic to hope for finding a new role at Nike after being laid off or am I tainted forever?

Really trying not to take this personally but seems like I’m the only one I know who was laid off. No one’s reached out to check in either. I loved my job and I really enjoyed Nike but the radio silence is making me question my worth and future.

I had to go to work today but I rather die than going in. I am scared of having a surprise attack. How they do lay off? Shall I watch my personal email or is it going to be a surprise meeting popping on my calendar? How it is going to be handled? Please some one give me something. I have severe panic disorder I do not want to lose my sh-t onsite

From What I have heard and seen based of Nike Org App. NXT Digital Innovation / engineering lost about 25-30 folks. I have heard of some NSRL folks as well as Insights Category Connectors. I have heard is said we will know how bad it is based off empty parking spots.

Just spent half a million dollar on a project that involved a big team for almost a year just to realize it was not what they needed! Don't get me started on poor decisions they make every day

I don’t understand how they can actively recruit people and move them and their families only to let them go a year or two later.

Seems like such a wasteful approach. ROI on new employees only begins a year or two in.

On the broader topic GT has their first all-teams meeting with new CTO and JD in the AM. Wonder if heads will roll before or after that meeting?

Can't wait for Matt Nurse to sit in another unplug meeting to fake a smile and tell us how much he cares about us and how good of a company Nike is! Can't wait for Nike holiday party this year! This is the most "in the dark", I have ever felt and it is completely unnecessary. Layoffs are being continued this week. It is not over yet or we would have been told it is over.

Layoffs gonna continue tomorrow ( Tueaday) and Friday and the next Friday..... I wish we could have the attention of media.. It is not right! It is a sh-t show that is being dragged long..... it is unfair to do this to employees who have poured their soul into their jobs. Some of us are single parent, some are bread winnner

They won’t lay off lower levels until after holidays as those are the folks that actually work, at least in tech. Such a joke to see sr directors and above show up in Black Friday war rooms and stand around to be seen while clueless.

@1tws+1pUJeZWd So they brought a third party consulting to decide which roles should be eliminated without getting any input from directors or managers on the importance of what we are doing? They must be taking some input from someone in the chain. I suspect changing the bands earlier this year was part of this re organization?
