What will happen to the individual contributor titles at level 6 like Principal Engg ? Anyone knows ?

Shows growth on your resume and a higher level title for applying outside the company. Can’t afford to rif anymore but titles are free.
Who in their right mind thought that a title change with no compensation increase would be a way to motivate 5 and 6 band employees? Oh by the way, we are restructuring your at risk compensation to pay you even less in 2024. Congrats on the promotion!
Value IT promoting friends left and right! what happened to value based promotions ?
Minimums and maximums are not by grade, they are by job code. A principle engineer and a project manager, both band 6, have very different pay lines. So if they only change the title of your job code and the pay line remains the same, that title change means nothing. In simple terms, Title change promotion.
@2qgn+1pWM5A7p - There are minimum and maximum limit for each pay grade that depends on band. If you think principal pay range is same as Engr 3 or 4, can't help you there. There is some overlap in Max of engr 3/ 4 and minimum of Principal. Then again don't wanna believe Principals don't believe it. Unless your hiring manager screwed or if you were promoted within same team for a negligible raise, my sympathies:)
The everyone gets 20% could be true now but since they aren’t changing salary or band why do they need a microsiite which looks like it has current and new incentive? Maybe it isn’t sti and is some other incentive but it looks like something might change.
@2rml+1pWM5A7p Incorrect - all band 6 have a 20% STI target. Can you get more? Sure, based on performance, both individual and corporate. The other thing to note is that these title changes are not coming with band changes. They are renaming existing titles. Therefore titles do not matter when it comes to salary.
@2hea+1pWM5A7p stated it correctly
“No, it won’t get you more money now. It will get some other company to pay you more money, later. Maybe.”
@1teu+1pWM5A7p - Titles matter when it comes salary. Principal title puts you in same band as a manager/Sr Manager. Engineers 3 and 4 are 1 lower band than Principal and Manager. Plus, bonuses for Principal and Managers 22% and above. Seen them get 28% bonus too.
It matters to me if I want to go out and apply for a senior position in the different company.
Do titles really matter? All smoke and mirrors people.
Principal engineer, aka nepo engineer, promotions spoken for before the opening is even announced, I had a manager once who said “I didn’t know you were interested” when i questioned her on why she promoted a one year employee hired off the street over 20 year engineers who could run rings around the nepo, so glad I’m no longer there
Senior Principal Engg?
No changes according to what we are told. Just another way to pad more money into folks who do not contribute anything other than their bs brown nosing
lol! Individual contributors are the actual one who works. Everyone on top of them just feed off the work of individual contributors
You will become "Consultant Expendable XV"
Your title will change to another liability to be laid off
