Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Backroom team

I was just informed today that we no longer take any trucks outside of their appt times. I was informed that this is company policy . Previously, we try to get the trucks in and out. This only works in a perfect world. So, no more excuses for a flat tire, traffic, running out of DOT hours, or a pallet that has fallen over in a truck? I am so frustrated with home office making unrealistic goals and rules.

Firstly, never heard this yet. Secondly, we already do this (for the most part). If a beer delivery is here at 4am, and a water shows up at 4am but he's not scheduled until 5am, we take the beer guy. If NO ONE shows up and we have nothing scheduled and a guy comes early, ofc we take him. Makes zero sense to make a driver wait for his appointment. AFAIK we were always told that fresh takes priority. And they have no schedule. He-l I've gotten Meat/Produce at 8pm, freezer at 10am.

Just like the DC trucks. They come and go when they feel like it. The "plan" or official document showing that trucks come in at 7pm, 9pm, 11pm and are just magically gonna be ran at that exact time and schedule is a load of utter B to the S, and whomever wrote up that planogram was high af and never actually worked a day at sams.

Again, home office makes these id--tic rules which look so organized on the computer app. But, apply it in real life, and it doesn’t allow for real life situations

I'm not believing that.

Okay so when meat/produce and freezer cooler trucks aren’t in the schedule and other appointments can be made in the 4-8am time slot what do we do when they show up at 5am and we have a water truck scheduled? They need to put meat/produce and freezer cooler on the scheduler so it blocks out times so other appointments can’t be made. Because meat etc is priority and puts us behind if we have to make another truck wait. These people who make these decisions are sitting in a cozy warm office fresh out of school who’ve probably never stepped foot in a club and are using their little algorithms on the scheduling system. Every club deals with this I’m sure

Haven't heard that at our club yet but 90% of our deliveries are either early or late. Would be impossible to implement here. It happens so often that we gave up keying them early/late in the system because we would be in front of the computer waaaaaay too much. Almost need to go back to having a receiving clerk in order to accomplish proper scheduling.
