I'm not really a "Union" person, per se, but I wholeheartdly support them and their unionization effort simply because Charlie and the board DON'T want it. So for that, I am 200% on board and I hope to god that they are successful.

Wells belongs to several organizations that lobby for laws and do other PR work.
But oh noes, the people doing the actual work want a voice!
The horror!
Ignore the PR trolls from WF and the Chamber of Commerce folks, unions and the GI bill (oh noes, that's socialism) made the middle class.
You used to be able to own a home, a car, maybe two, and take the family on a decent vacation.
Decades of corporations and the very wealthy buying up policticians (on both sides) have led us to a system that siphons off the wealth of the middle class and transfers it to Wall Street, where people who have never had a real job and who's mom's and dad's bribed their way into ivy league schools use American business like their own personal ATM.
You do the work, they buy a second yacht.
Unions aren't perfect, but right now, you're reading this on a layoff website, so how's that no union thing working out for you?
How much are dues typically? Is it a flat fee or a percentage based on income?
Paying union dues is a form of PAYING to get laid off, which will occur either way.
I love how any of the threads about unionization bring out C.S.'s "labor relations team" which is just a bunch of union-busters that has been getting in hot water since at least 2022 when CBS broke the news that WF's anti-union practices were not legal.
Yet C.S. and his army of online trolls and harassers keep doing what they're doing anyway. It's easy for them to get away with it in the US where freedom of speech protects anonymous posts, meaning WF can post all the attacks and disinformation they want to on anonymous online spaces like social media and forums.
- S. should just get it over with and layoff every single American next year. That's what he wants, after all. Put everyone out of their misery and get it done.
I'm pretty sure it's the guys violating election laws because eMeRgEnCy and printing / copying ballots by the thousands on election night that are the "threat to democracy". Oh look, a water leak! All observers have to leave. (Door closes). Alright guys, who's ready to count the fake ballots?
@1ijn we are on the same page.
Why are you surprised?
This is exactly how #45 was ushered in. His cvlt chanting "Own the libs!" while stripping away their own rights and dismantling demócracy.
Humans deserve to be extinct due to brain cell decline.
It is sad that people’s critical thinking skills have declined to the point that now you say, “If they don’t want it, I want it!”, rather than actually understanding the impacts and making a well thought out decision.
bonus and merit is based on performance in that you have to obtain a minimum performance rating to qualify for either, but in terms of how much you get, it's less important.
Must be nice. Now we just need Hudson Yards to live under the same rule.
@1iih. It won't be with a union. You'll get the same amount your under performing union member gets.
not for unions. High dues and then you get laid off anyway.
My merit and bonus is fully based on performance
Raises aren't really based on performance now. Not for most employees and DEFINITELY not for the executives. If there was true pay for perf, Shart would have to pay the company to work here.
@xsl it also means that raises are negotiated and not based on performance. Let’s shoot for mediocrity
That could also mean that your pay and benefits decrease to subsidize the lower performers as well. Also means that any future raises and promotions are decreased because they'll need to spread the wealth.
Same.
