That’s the name of the game: Do anything to boost short-term stock price to increase your personal compensation even if it hurts corporate growth long term, and then stand in righteous indignation at town halls when the rank and file express disappointment that their efforts are not being recognized.

This is getting out of hand. Taking away from top 5-20% earners who put in the long hours and willing to put up with cr-p, meaningfully making life harder for them and their families, only to give even more to the top 0.5%.
Yes, their bonuses will go up because of all the money they save the company by laying people off. The stock price will go up due to increased profits which is all CVX cares about just like every other company.
That happens at every company. The wealthy get wealthier, while the poor get poorer.
