Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Tech Mgr Forum

I find it an absolute parody that these leaders get on a call and lecture us about how sideways the decisions they made turned out months later.

You ki-led QA, you supported insane deadlines, you offshored our skilled labor, etc.

And today, we have to take it seriously that we are immature and failing. Wow.

Try giving us the tools and resources to do our jobs correctly, we know how, just get the out of the way.

The thing that drives me nuts about Agile is they just added layers of people who don’t know the areas they are SM’s of. So instead of really planning and then digging into issues it’s this superficial conversation about escalation and blockers.

Blame all the problems on the incompetent tech teams in India.

Biden is pressuring American corporations to send more jobs to India. Modi, Biden pledge to deepen India-U.S. partnership as world leaders descend on Delhi for G20 summit

So true what is being said about agile. I remember telling my manager this was not conducive for baking apps. That the testing was not enough anymore. Then they lay off all of the system QA jobs. Deemed unnecessary, I think not!

Even more ironic when the recruiter is WFH, the HR rep scolding you for not coming to the building is WFH, and your replacement is in Hyderabad (aka not better together with the rest of your team here in the US).

You forgot to add that TK also said our fabulous technologists are going to solve world problems as well.
Shame on you OP. :)

Don’t worry. The smooth talking savior from Truist is on the way. KM will fix it all while making vendors millions and leaving a trail of carnage in his path.

I don’t believe the OP. Dancing Cheerleader TK has told the American Banker and all the other petty award publications that WF has the best technologists anywhere and they are doing wonderful things to lead the industry. Was she lying to American Banker? Nooooooooo

The upper crust of tech mgmt is incentivized to cut expenses. No matter how messy that may be.

So the key thing there = incentives.

For any non-mgr in tech, try to name one single incentive (other than fear of losing job) we are fueled with on any give day.

Guaranteed if incentives were offered (notable pay increases/promotions) there would be a decent portion of us that would take the cr_p handed down from the current incentivized tech leadership with more drive to find solutions.

It really doesn't matter in the end that expenses are being cut, we see plenty of ways to be more efficient, reduce risk, etc.

The problem is all about the lack of incentives. So for the time being, instead of taking the necessary action to improve the cr_ap, we are swimming in it.

(yes we need the tools too, and if incentivized, we would be encouraged by leadership to recommend the tools to acquire to get the job done right)

Rank has its privilege. Please leave the senior leaders alone. They have important work.

Ironic how they repeatedly stressed importance over in-office expectations while most of these senior leaders made the point WHILE WORKING FROM HOME.

I attended a call the other day where one of the senior technology leaders was discussing the root cause of recent outages. Teams are now operating in silos. Design, development, and testing occur at the individual application level. System dependencies and end-to-end testing are not considered. Etc.

That is AGILE! They are literally describing Agile. Since Day 1 of the Agile Transformation, we have been pointing out those fundamental gaps. What will it take for leadership to admit that it's not working.
