Sounds to me like a year of severance or at least seriously reduced workload while looking for another job.
You can’t “ride it to the bottom and collect severance” if they “transfer” your job to a vendor and don’t offer severance. Rebadging has happened in other departments…. They tell you that you can go to the other employer where you’re only guaranteed 1 year or get lost without severance.
I miss the drama this thread created.
Unless you have “the job” in vz that somehow is in demand outside of vz don’t stay too long unless you plan on being a lifer. Even the locals governments are usinf better stuff than we are these days internally.

Doubtful that, outsourcing, is entirety the reason for the depressed stock price.
In early/mid 2018 VZ stock price was 50-ish. In late 2018 we sign a 5 year, 1 billion dollar deal with Inf0$h1t.
We layoff thousands of experienced, knowledgeable US workers and replace them with supposedly “cheaper” Indian workers (unless you consider the kickbacks to the VZ Indian execs from Infy and Indian Government) from Infy.
Over the past 5 years, VZ stock plummets to 30-ish.
So we sign a 2Billion dollar deal with another Indian contractor- HCL Tech?
