Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

How is anyone dealing with the pressure right now?!!

Worries about YE has been ki-ling me on the inside, and work is constantly stressful. But everyone seems to have their sh-t together. How is anyone dealing with this rn?! How can I be excited, capable and energetic like some of my other colleagues?!

I have been there before. These are the steps i took to solve the constant stress of potential layoffs

  1. Learn to live below your means
  2. Save as much money as possible, ideally 50% of your income into an emergency fund
  3. Make sure that you have emergency fund to cover 1-2 years of expenses.
  4. Adopt a mindset that every day is my last day at the company
  5. Be prepared mentally to walk away or get laid off any. You should be financially prepared if you can have 1-2 years of emergency fund
  6. Keep attending interviews every so often to find better opportunities and pay
  7. If you feel like your pay or satisfaction not improving over 3 to 4 years move on to the next company.

This will sound like a corny motivational meme but there's truth in it. Know first that your worth is not tied to your current employer. People switch jobs every 3-5 years regularly nowadays. Have confidence in yourself and if you know what you're worth, then any company will be glad to have you - it's COF's loss if this goes south for you. Most importantly, you're not defined by your job/career, it's a means to an end. Find what that "end" is for you if you don't know already.

It has been very demotivating and stressful the past couple of months. My team’s culture is nonexistent and at times hostile. I am looking forward to leaving the company.
