I'm dreading the earnings report and how bad it'll be. I think it's a foregone conclusion that layoffs will follow. I hope I'm wrong, but chances are I'm not.

Only a $1.6B loss! Considering the last few years, this is a win.
The talent has gone to Blue Origin or SpaceX
I suppose it depends on your location. I don't see Charleston laying off anytime soon as they are preparing for rate increases and job movement from the pnw to sc.
At one time Microsoft was so successful they would hide revenue to smooth out their earnings to appear more consistent and stable. Boeing is doing the same but with costs and production shortfalls. There are a line up of issues (Tanker, 777X, quality, the entire space program, etc) that are in the shadows just waiting to be disclosed. 737 deliveries were supposed to help minimize damage but this trick hasn't worked out. So now Boeing has cut me down to a single monitor to save the company.
It is bad. Boeing is not profitable, due to the quality problems, with Spirit I heard. They are trying to fix it, investors are not happy. Seems like going in a loop, they fix this problem then something else comes... Deliveries and productivity are low; Boeing is currently hiring for fourth line of 737-Max in Everett to increase output because Renton does not deliver, i wonder where good workers and problem solvers are now
