Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Same old clowns

When will the board realize that if you want different outcomes, you need different a different approach? With the cast of characters who have cycled through our train wreck projects in oversight positions, now safely sitting in senior leadership roles, it seems like nothing will change going forward. They have clearly demonstrated their inability to manage and yet carry on up the chain regardless. The analysts on the Q3 call have spotted it, why can’t we? The competition are laughing

Senior management isn't about to make a change because that would be an admission that they were wrong. They have been trained to think that they are never wrong. They think that they have climbed to their lofty positions because they are smarter than everyone else. Anyone who disagrees or tells them this are eliminated from consideration.

Not sure why that comment got downvoted. You nailed it. Now exec mgmt is harping at the troops to cut cut cut and fix things because Wall Street is pi---d but no introspection of what’s wrong and what’s wrong is they took the eye off the ball and we’re all drowning in new energy and DEI silliness and lack of accountability ! Get a clue

The culture in place won't change unless there is a seismic shift at the top. HiPots protect their own by moving up the same types who toe the line as they did. People who think differently are eliminated from consideration and move on to other companies. If you haven't been picked as a HiPot, you have zero chance of changing anything. You just have a job.

Leaders are concerned only about their compensation package. All they really do is avoid making waves for job security. I like how excecutives salivate at the property and ownership change so options can be cashed in. They vote solely for their pocketbook.

While your points are well taken regarding the lack of progressing true “leadership change” to produce better forward leaders, the BOD has their backs against the wall. They are honestly wholly at fault for not ensuring the succession plan was robust for all of the executive positions and that the succession plan reflected true change in leadership attributes. They rubber stamped the plans that MW and his reports put together for many years and now the emperor has not clothes and they are representing that emperor role re: succession plans. This has the making of a decade of calamity to right the ship. They have promoted JG to the role he is in? That is an example right there that the BOD is completely disconnected from the reality of how certain leaders are NOT leading appropriately.
