Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Deal closes tomorrow

I bet 100 imaginary internet points that Hoc closes the deal without Chinese approval to save face. Any takers? I also accept social credit currency and pretend crypto.

Well I was pretty sure they’d tell China to eff off… I guess Hoc decided that a penalty of 10% of last year’s BC/VMW global turnover was too much to pay to save face.

I still think this eventually closes. But now that I’ve lost my last 100 imaginary internet points, I don’t have anything else to bet.

The deal can’t go through without Chinese approval

It can - as long as they don't care about the Chinese market for now.

And even if they stop the acquisition for now - your a-s still gets laid off.

50/50 its going to close. Hock will have to pay $1.5 billion should he proceed without CCP approval. Not only that, but it would fu-k with a lot of different businesses that trade in the region (APPL for one). So I doubt that CAN happen even if it wanted. The fallout would spell disaster for VMW as well, and so this option does not really apply to the current objective reality timeline.

Should CCP give last minute nod of approval (with much pressure from our allies and certain Banks), then full steam ahead. End of Story.

I’ll bet you a million dollars it doesn’t go through.
In fact I’d say right now, it hasn’t gone through and they are scrambling to try and figure out what to do.

Your social credit score has been reduced for proposing this concept. You are now in the negative, please report to the closest CCP reeducation centre.
