Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Stages of Grief

I’ve been through a few stages of grief today. In the morning I was surprised because I thought performance would help keep me at the firm. But then my Manager and MD were among the layoffs besides me. So I guess I can partly see how they can justify that I wasn’t somehow targeted by HR/leadership.

Anyway, I have a few interviews lined up this week and reached out to recruiters I’ve spoken to in the past.

To everyone else impacted, give yourself the time you need and then let yourself explore the world out there. It is true that you may end up at a better opportunity that you wouldn’t have explored, had Schwab not pushed you out.

I will apply to Schwab roles, but that’s certainly not my first preference. Other things being equal, I’d rather go elsewhere now.

I just cannot see working at Schwab ever again. Nothing changed, nothing will change, it’s the same leaders.
