If you have been a Director for a long time and you are ready to be promoted to Managing Director you may think twice before you make the move. You saw what happened and how agressively they went after MDs.
The biggest risk is becoming an MD without having a large team or organization that clearly requires MD-level leadership. MDs are expensive and easy targets.

The biggest mistake you can make in this company is transitioning to PL. In STS you are expected to play IC and PL. And you get bizarre direction and have to defend it to your team.
With such brilliant insight you should be on the EC.
Most of the MDs and Directors don't know quack except playing politics. Nobody is interested in delivery.
God damit we dont have a testing strategy, no TDM, CICD pipelines etc... all words for past 10 years and zero delivery. Yet people keep getting promoted.
Ya but then you don’t get promoted and you keep getting annual raises at director and get laid off because you are high paid for your title… can’t win
