Has anyone found out if signing the severance document voids the ability to claim unemployment benefits?

My uncle who is a lawyer reviewed the contract and it does not say you can't get unemployment. Though is may vary in your state, so look into your state laws.

@OP+1pmRM7Ai I can't speak for every state, but in Nebraska you can have both. I believe the severance payout will be in one lump sum, so during that week you will report it as earnings, but you can still get benefits for weeks without earnings.
