Anyone else sick to death of hearing H1 holders complaint about their status because of this…? Just saying..
I am just speaking for myself here, not sure of everyone who is waiting for offers. Some of us are in a limbo where our legal status in the US is dependent on the offer.
@dwk+1pmwnADX here.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. I understand that being in a limbo where your legal status in the US is dependent on an offer can be a very stressful and precarious situation. I also appreciate that this can make it difficult to simply switch jobs, as you may have to uproot your life and move back to your home country if you are not offered employment.
The comment I made about what I observed was regarding those who were clearly locals of their countries. It just irked me that they lament about the lack of offers but aren't putting in effort to improve their situation (or at least, I don't observe it). Personally, I had to put in a lot of effort over the months, going through interviews while still working, to secure my next job offer, very much alone and silently in the process.
But I do understand that people have different circumstances and different ways to react to the current challenging situation. It's interesting, as it's almost like a psychological experiment (similar to "Squid Game") to see how people behave when placed in a challenging and volatile situation with minimal information given.
Letters went out last week as a desperate ploy to pressure China by saying, “we sent offers out, you have to approve this”… China called their bluff.
This is also why ONLY offer letters went out. No one got dismissal letters.

I am on an L1 visa and have to leave the country if I am not offered employment. There is little I can do to salvage my situation since I will be forced to uproot my life here and move back to India. This would mean not just job hunting and tiresome interviews, but also financial losses because of the move. I will have to sell off thousands of dollars worth of stuff, my new car and not to mention start from scratch in a new city. After covid and my move to the US, this would be rebuilding my life in a new city for the 4th time in the last 5 years.
Things are not as bad for H1 holders, but they are in a similar looking boat. Many of them have bought homes and made significant investments which is at risk. The offer of employment would help us navigate this hardship in a safer fashion.

Because VMware is full of unqualified and incompetent people and they are the most stressed out now. They can't get another job even close to what VMware is offering them because they are incompetent imposters.
Most of them are managers.
“However, deal delayed or not, no more letters.”
100% factually incorrect. There are huge areas of the business, different BUs, functions etc, including the majority of countries outside of the US where no letters have been sent yet! But please do continue to spout absolute nonsense if it makes you feel better.
The offers are sent to those who were suppose to get it. Of course, letters would be null and void if deal doesn’t go through. However, deal delayed or not, no more letters.
I too am very surprised by the sheer volume of people who banked on getting a full time offer, given the history of Broadcom. There’s precedent and yet…
I'm honestly curious.
Why are some people so adamant about receiving an offer letter from Broadcom and not exploring job options outside of VMware? Some are clearly stressed about missing out on the offer letter and are desperate to secure any form of offer from Broadcom. Then, when the acquisition deal was delayed, these same people express relief. Why don't they even start searching outside?
Personally, I'm annoyed with the waiting, as I've already secured a new job offer and am eagerly awaiting my release. Now there's this delay for an indeterminate amount of time. I just can't wait for closure, to receive my severance, and move on.
letters soon ...
It is worrying. If the deal is supposed to still close, then why wouldn't they continue their plans with letters.
I don't subscribe to Financial Times.
Does the inquiring mind have any intelligence? Did it not understand that the close hasn’t happened?
No more offer letters. The deal is over
Why BC sent out letter last week but hold the offer letter now?
There is no status change on BC. Either last week or now, what they know is the same, that is the deal is expected to be closed, "soon".
letters will be on hold until close now
I don't think any letters went out today, I got mine last Tuesday
Did anyone get any (full time or transitional) offer letter today?
