From what I have read on the proposals looks like capital gains are included, but income from employment is still at zero. Who knows whether this will come to fruition, though clear direction of travel is towards greater taxation.

Even with say a 15-20 pc tax, the footballers will still come. The sovereign fund will just pay them more. And, that aside, they still make a fortune. No, footballers will happily (or unknowingly) sacrifice their health playing in the pollution regardless.

Are you serious? Income tax to be levied on expats? Will never happen. Was mooted back in the old days but won’t happen now. Not with all the footballers combining into KSA.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the tax free income (except for the US payroll who sadly do pay taxes).

It is no income tax however recent changes of tax law suggest that will be one for funds outside the kingdom, so, in a smart way, you need to pay to take your money out. Do your homework and your math but certainly a portion of your money will remains in the sandbox.

This chimes with the current new diktats I have seen from management and the types of people coming into Aramco.

Cheap and cheerful low grade “expat” candidates are the order of the day… See those that work for less, those that couldn’t make it in the west, those that will never be more than mediocre. Doubly applies for sycophants with muslim backgrounds…Yes sir, no sir, inshallah.

If true this proves they don’t care about the quality of the expat they attract. No one worth their salt would ever say yes to joining, least of all driving out a good proportion of the existing ones. All will be left are the useless and desperate

I’ve heard the proposal is a 20% flat rate. If so, then every expat worth their salt will just leave. They’ll be left with the dregs and unemployable brigade.
