“Filing claim time reduced from four minutes to 43 seconds”. What is next, is takes 99 seconds to fully complete auto estimate? 43 seconds? WTF? Who develops and believes this data?
The man has absolutely no clue about finance! Legacy applications support >99% of Allstate's revenue and are costly to maintain and enhance by industry standards. ASC-related development and support expenses add to the already bloated legacy applications footprint without taking out cost. Cost offsets come from laying -off people.
Migrating or leveraging e legacy applications, which support >99% of the revenue and claims processing, has not been well thought out. Too many bad architectural decisions are made by people who don't have a clue - current and former CIOs included -who are not even listening to their teams. The latest one I just heard from my manager is a push to leverage the new ASC front-end over the classic batch applications. This means no data migration from the legacy apps to the new ASC architecture and legacy application and cost retention in perpetuity. ASC will crash and burn. It is crazy that the board has not asked for an independent audit of the ASC program—millions upon millions of dollars down the drain. We hear the CIO discuss outcome-based delivery. Where is the data supporting that Allstate is making profitable sales using ASC? IL auto on ASC has been in the market for over a year. More importantly, where is the CFO asking these questions and drilling down beyond the feel-good rhetoric of IT leadership? We in IT are appalled with what is going on!
