Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Best alternatives

I know many are planning to leave, but I was wondering where you are hoping to move to. What are the best alternatives to Citi? I've been looking around and honestly, I can't find any much better place, especially when it comes to layoffs. They seem to be omnipresent.

Why limit yourself to just the financial sector? Branch out, look at other sectors regardless of what your skills are. An accountant at Citi can also be an accountant in the medical sector. A tech guy at Citi can be a tech guy for Frito Lays. A compliance person at Citi can be a compliance person at GM. Even look past large companies. Small and mid size companies may not always be able to match the benefits provided by a larger company but they often times offset that with higher pay. In Citi’s case, they’d be able to match the bennies with no problem, sadly. Many companies have no issues with remote work. You can be a compliance guy for McDonalds HQ wherever that is remotely.

Use LinkedIn job search which has very useful filters on salary and remote work. Don’t limit yourself to just banks. There’s a lot out there.

A buddy of mine went to work for “The Container Store” , higher pay, 1 extra week more vacay time than what Citi gave them, insurance was about the same, matching 401K etc….
The Container store, who would’ve thought.

Any firm is better than hanging by a thread a way of life at Citigroup. Toxic culture, and political re--rds.
