You call into many meetings, but never add or contribute to the discussion. Leave 10 minutes early to avoid assignments, and if directly asked a question, you defer to someone else, since you know nothing and have been floating for years......?

Sounds like this is the way things are done at all the Big 3. Are you surprised? I think I'm more taken aback by your amazement. This has been the culture for years and this is no surprise. People run their work lives from their mobile phones. Avoiding work? Never contributing to meetings? This is normal. There are about 2 out of 10 people that actually get work done. These people are agreeable, overloaded, and they pay the price. The people that are not agreeable, but very good are not in the meeting because their LL6 is scared to bother them lest they quit and have delegated to people that are silent on the meetings.
