Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Internal Mobility?

I see tech teams being moved from one country to mine but they are hiring the same people and paying for their visa and relocation. How does this make sense when we are supposed to be saving money?

Also, if Citi is making you redundant purely to move the team and not eliminating the roles, they clearly don't value you enough otherwise just let you continue working in your home country. So why stay with them?

Is a tech career at Citi really worth uprooting your family for only to probably end up redundant again in 5yrs?

I'm highly considering internal mobility. However, as someone on here said before, I think I'll wait until after Q1 (if I survive layoffs) until after the cr-p settles. I see too much cronyism on my team and butt kissers. Too many emails, meetings, and BS. I know that may be company-wide, but at least I'd be away from my current group of crazies. I'm surrounded by incompetent managers at all levels. Lol. They really prove it's who you know and whose butt you kiss means the most at this company.

What you mention is totally illogical. Regarding tech career at Citi - if you want to be valued as a tech guy (and you are good enough) - go to a big tech company, where tech is the business. Tech is a supporting function in banking, not the business.
