Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Congratulations to the new slate.

The former officers have given their everything for this union and stuck up for membership for a long time.

Well congrats to the new slate!

Day 1 from 2011 we have heard from day one the hall state. T Rate Pay-scale is on the hit list and number one on the agenda. Contracts came and contracts gone with no bump in pay for the t rates.

Only COLA and contract bonus 1 time a year here and there. Well this slate better get us up closer to the D’s or again I’m voting no next contract.

Reinvest in employees for better production and pride.

I assume the new Local Slate wants to move forward, should ask the DOL to close audit with no findings (assuming it hasn't been done so already)

Keep dreaming about pay equity for D and T rates. GE will offer "x" and that's it, Local can figure out how to split it. Strike, go for it and all that will be left in the repair shop. I guarantee that.

You’re not impressed. They have been in office for 1 week. Hard to get off to a good start when the previous BA-CD and president-SF factory reset the union computers on their way out. One last screwing for the membership. You both don’t even deserve a spot back on the floor.

I’m Not impressed with the elected union officials. If they don’t course some serious waves in this place. To show and demand from the company they mean business. To earn some solid respect from the company it will be a done deal.

As a T rate, you knew what the pay was and what the benefits were when you accepted the job. If it wasn't good enough, why did you take the job? Life is full of options. You can keep your current job at the pay and benefits that you accepted when you took the job, or you can leave. Perhaps leave for something better if you have the ambition and talent to try.

The "skilled trades" folks get paid a "total" compensation wage when benefits are included for the area. The other folks are paid based on "global" costs for manufacturing activities so the product cost is competitive and GE can make money. The total labor cost is what GE looks at, so if the union majority wants to take money from the legacy/older/slower "D" rates and apply it to the lower paid folks than have at it. But there is only so much money GE is willing to pay to be competitive in this global market.

@1buu+1q42OMI9, unions vote by majority, when the two tier passed no one voting was impacted only future hires. Sooner or later the T will have the majority of the vote and things will change. In the mean time enjoy your rusted out late 1990's Ford Ranger and admire their new F250 trucks,

@2vot+1q42OMI9, why go to work there knowing you'd make $ 10/hr less, sounds like the fool is you mirror every morning

: @1qod+1q42OMI9 Well why I would I want to work as hard if not harder with as much dedication as a higher pay scale guy if I’m getting $10 less an hour or more with no pension?
Hey the company created this mess hiring people that came from making $13 and hour. Then to think they will be happy with $10 less an hour for doing the same job as a d rate.
A unions job is to fight for fair and equal treatment in all aspects of the facility for the better if the membership.
So with that said either your a manager who got the degree you hold off of YouTube videos and pretending to work more than talking like your the smartest person engineer in the facility. The T rate has and have been proving themselves for 12 years and every turn get more taken away.
I say it’s time to make a stand and take it to the company. I think the D’s were afraid of the stand because they are afraid the company will close up the shop.

So, you're saying people at GE Schenectady are milking the clock. Then you say that you want more pay and better benefits. When you stop playing games and abusing the company, then pay and benefits will improve. Why should the company pay upfront with the hope that your performance will improve? Even athletes need to prove themselves worthy before they get a huge contract. Go and prove yourself, and then you can argue for more pay

@1buu+1q42OMI9
You’re right it should have never been a split pay scale with no pension.

Well if a walk at contract negotiations is what it will take then I am all in! Look how much they stripped the contracts down. The company keeps gaining and we keep loosing. I’m to the point that I don’t care if they shut the doors or have a mass layoff again. I for one will not return like so many other did before. This place could be a great career but to many games here. The harder I work to keep jobs here I see 10 people milking the clock.

Should have always been the same pay rate for all. I hope we all learned something from the past to never repeat again.
