As a third-worlder who grew up with a massive version of DEI ( smart people will understand where I am from) the corrosive effects are:
- creation of an small entitled upper class from the former oppressed who will grab all the benefits
- 90% of the discriminated will feel even more discriminated without seeing the benefits
- degradation of public services and institutions as politicking replaces competence
Hate to break it to OP, but white guys been grifting loooong before DEI…
Always amazed at how offended people get at DEI initiatives. As someone who is completely indifferent to the culture wars, I could care less about this. They’re far from perfect, but not some moral calamity. If anything, the hysterical response lead me to believe there is a lot more white fragility here than meets they eye.
There are many, many ways something similar could happen at Chevron.
