Curious if anyone has left for Google for a PM type role and if so how is the compensation?

I left for Google. Best decision ever.
@2kgg Discourage? No. I’m just trying to inject a dose of realism.
There are a lot of people working at EM who freak out when their computer is rebooting after a patch/service pack is installed. There are many who can’t create a shortcut to a file stored in a drive. I don’t know of anyone at EM who has an active GitHub (most couldn’t tell you what it is without googling it). I could go on, but you get my point.
If you want to apply to a MAANG, go ahead and apply. Worst they can say is no. Just keep in mind that you’re up against the best talent in the world when you do.
There are former exxon people working for MAANG. Even better, there are people that Exxon laid off that are working for MAANG and doing well.
Exxon was really that bad in picking who to lay off!
Too many people here trying to discourage folks from finding better jobs. Plenty of people leave EM for tech companies.
Just go to LinkedIn and do a search. You can filter for both current company and former company (e.g. “Google” and “ExxonMobil”).

MAANGS don’t hire for the O&G skill set. There’s also an industry-wide hiring freeze.
It doesn’t sound like you would have passed the culture stage of the interview process, and it doesn’t sound like you know anyone who would. Keep dreaming fellas.
Plenty of people have left for Google. Many didn’t even have to move to the shithole of California. I don’t know how much less they get paid if they work remote from Texas. Maybe that is what your question was OP since most of the salary sites show CÁ data?
