Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

LRs everywhere

I'm just going to leave this here: https://techcrunch.com/2023/12/15/tech-layoffs-2023-list/
Next time y'all go thinking only Cisco does LRs, go visit that site. It's the only way corporate America knows.

LR coming by end of January 2024.
This time the layoffs will be mostly blaming employee performance which is better legally and financially for Cisco so make sure you get everything documented and lawyer up before you receive the pip

Same people got hired at Amazon repetitively 10 times after leaving, how do you explain that? I got the juice.

AWS and Azure are both more than double of Cisco revenue, do you see people got laid off from AWS and Azure? of course not!!

From:

https://amazonbound.medium.com/why-amazons-attrition-is-higher-than-attrition-at-other-tech-companies-b0de9cb2c4fe

The average tenure of a full-time Amazonian is roughly one year, while tenure at other tech places like Facebook, Apple, and Google tends to be roughly about two years. Why is that?
Before venturing an explanation, I should clarify a couple of house-keeping items: 1) the one-year-tenure estimate excludes Amazon’s fulfillment-center employees and seasonal employees.

There are plenty of other sources showing Amazon back loads the stock so the majority is only available after two years and they get rid of people at the two year mark. Since firing isn't the same as a layoff you get to play by different rules. From the same webpage:

As the adage goes, successful companies either “hire well” (e.g. Google, Microsoft) or “fire well” (e.g. Facebook, Netflix, Amazon.) This is true: Amazon is exceptional at removing its underperformers quickly. What enables Amazon to “fire well” is its strong culture, which obsesses over results.

No above average college grad will be joining company with all the tribalism and nepotism [40 years of legacy to fix rather than to develop something new].

FTFY. The reason the code has been bad for that long is because on average the masses from both the US and elsewhere who created this mess were well below average.

Yes, but Cisco will layoff until infinity because it is part of it’s DNA.

This is a psychotic post. Amazon has 2 million employees, microsoft has 300,000 employees, for them to lay off 10,000 employees is nothing. January is highest month on layoffs for retail sector after holiday season ( people are broke after holiday spendings ). Amazon and Microsoft have big commercial retail segment.

AWS and Azure are both more than double of Cisco revenue, do you see people got laid off from AWS and Azure? of course not!!

there is no comparison between apple and orange.
