Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Gail hired a Known Hit Man

To lead this important work, I’m pleased to announce that Ratnakar Lavu will join Elevance Health as our new Executive Vice President, Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) on February 5, reporting directly to me.

Now go to the layoff.com/nike and see what hundreds of employees are saying about him.

I worked at Nike during his entire tenure there and just stumbled across this, and omg you are so unbelievably f**ked. What's in the press is nowhere near what actually happened and how bad it was.

If you've got a whistle you wanna blow, go straight to the SEC. You'd be shocked to find out how broad the definition of securities fraud is. I don't need to know anything about your board or executive leadership to know that they aren't going to be of any use because for some reason they (and your general counsel, and any external counsel) have taken the highly unusual step of f**king you and your company on purpose.

Hey, there's probably a pretty good shareholder lawsuit here as well for the more intrepid ppl on this thread!

Due diligence? Here? In a word, ha!

His questionable history was the 4th link on Google when he started. Guess we stop looking after 3.

This whole thing smells of organized crime. Perhaps Elevance is being strong armed by a foreign mob, and this guy is the RAT bagman sent to funnel money out. Some really sketchy stuff was going on before. There needs to be a forensic audit done.

It's a good question. They clearly didn't do their due diligence. Based on what I see in this article, Nike was a Kohl's redux. I really hope this one doesn't settle before trial. How do people get away with this?

Based on that article they knew what happened at Nike. Obviously, they hired him to run this company out of business. You have to ask yourself, why would the BOD hire someone with that in his past. What happened at Khol's this week. CEO fired for steering the business to a romantic partner. This guy came from Kohl's. So, I'll ask again. Why would the Board of Directors hire this guy?

https://www.oregonlive.com/business/2025/03/nikes-business-plan-was-a-ticking-timebomb-shareholder-lawsuit-says.html

"They describe Nike’s technology as “antiquated” and unable to meet the increased demands of shoppers on the company’s website and mobile apps.

They take particular aim at Ratnakar Lavu, Nike’s former top technology executive, who resigned suddenly in 2023, and who plaintiffs claim “purportedly engaged in corruption, including kickbacks to external vendors and other misconduct that prompted an SEC investigation.” A separate whistleblower lawsuit, filed in Multnomah County by a former Nike technology manager, alleges there had been “reports” of Securities and Exchange Commission violations by Lavu.

Plaintiffs’ lawyers claim Nike hired a consulting firm to audit Lavu’s department and found he had created a “shadow organization” that employed more people than it needed, leading to 200 layoffs. The information is attributed to a former Nike vice president.

Lavu didn’t immediately return messages left on a phone number and email address previously associated with him."

The only reason the RAT got the job was because Bozo the Clown turned it down.

Apparently, a tennis shoe executive is now considered top-tier leadership. Everyone knows the CEO’s days are numbered due to contractual requirements. Could this hire be an attempt to cover up years of poor hiring decisions? This move could be a strategic way to divert attention from the CEO and take the heat off her past hiring decisions.

Elevance Health IT is bleeding under his leadership. This guy has no knowledge of healthcare or any domain. His career is based on cutting costs. He has converted Elevance IT in to a joke in a year. Unfortunately board and Gail are quiet and letting it happen.

A company that will trim staff year over year to meet shareholder demands. CEO is better off managing a WNBA team and is among the most insincere among a cadre of DEI staffers I’ve seen. Avoid working here.

I guess it's well needed change at Elevance with the many years of toxic and poignant environment. I worked here and it's a pathetic, toxic and political environment in the IT sector. Only bootlickers survive here with the management each licking their superiors a-s for their personnel benefits. I do not see a professional environment in Elevance IT Sector, it is contaminated with toxic managers and yes men. I am happy to see the change coming to Elevance and hope there is a fresh, amicable and professional environment here to work. Keep up the good work Lavu.

And the Rat claims his first scalp! AB the Global Chief Information Officer resigned yesterday.

I would guess the role will be filled by one of the rat's henchmen from Nike or a previous company.

His message was poorly delivered and even more poorly received.

Is it clear to anyone else (by now) that you must be "Brown" or Get Out of Town??

By all means, bring in another non-healthcare knowledgeable person. After all, they fit the new requirements of working here.

He’s a racist, slimy, dirt bag piece of sh*t.

He’s been fired from his last two companies for kick back schemes.

He’s had multiple affairs and has been part of several lawsuits.

We’re all f-c*t.

If you're in tech at this dumpster fire of a company it's really on you if you get laid off. They have proven time and time again you mean nothing and have no value.

Take advantage of training, learn new things on work time, work on your resume during work time, interview during work time and leave. If I did it you can too. You really can't do worse.

Take my word for it other companies have 401k match and bogus ACA high deductible health insurance.

Anthem cares about only two things:
Population DB &
Death DB

As long as both keep growing, they are in business.

To @clri+1qDK1naR

I believe he was hired to accelerate AI and lower IT costs. I do not believe he will improve IT based on his track record, but it could not be a clearer message to the two executives running the organizations that will move under the rat that they aren't cutting the mustard. I expect they are upset and cannot see either being with ELV later than Q3 this year. The rat will bring in his own people and decimate IT as he has in his other jobs.

To @6ihs+1qDK1naR. He is here to do what our people won't or cannot. It is possible that the expectations set by our CEO are not being met by our current teams/leaders. The new guy has no obigations to anyone here, and he is reporting directly to our CEO. You can expect change from the top down.

To @6ihs+1qDK1naR, I saw those medium posts too when I googled him after we all received Gail’s email. HE is not even trying hard to conceal his “FAKE IT till you make it”. From leading some IT teams at a video rental company to a struggling physical/box retailer to a struggling shoes company to now suddenly at a Fortune 25 healthcare. Quite a leap. Also came across some of his talks, which were as drab as they could be. Which CIO goes to an industry symposium to talk about call volumes, login failures, chat bots, etc.?! That is so last decade. BTW, all that he said didn’t sound very far off from what our CIO AnB would talk about. So the question is— why was he hired? What does he bring to the table, that our current crop of Indian origin IT leaders couldn’t step up to? They must be pi---d that they were overlooked or found unfit for the job, or being perceived as not having delivered.

There are also some funny Medium posts by him about himself, written in the 3rd person.

A comical read.

Let us all hope that karma comes quickly and severely for Gail.

They will turn on her, just as quickly and hard as they (offshore) turn on us as co-workers.

I pray I am in the know to hear all the juicy details when it does happen.

I’m so sorry for any of you working at Anthem. Without making it personal, he is the worst leader I’ve ever reported to. He is wildly incompetent and has a documented history of leaving a disaster everywhere he’s been. Buckle up, it’s gonna be a wild ride.

Also, a CEO that knowingly hires this guy can’t be that good.

I am so glad I left this company last year. It was difficult to imagine life outside of Anthem when I was there but trust me, the world outside is great. Culture is still so good at so many companies. If you are still thinking of leaving, go ahead and try for opportunities. Don't let the job market scare you. Keep trying.
