Is there a company-wide hiring freeze? We have been hounding our manager for months to get us more people because we're severely overworked and can't get to everything in time, but so far, nothing has come of that. He says he tries but is blocked. Is this possible?

There has been a hiring freeze in my group for many roles as of Q4 last year.
I don't think so. There are new hires starting on my team late January. These were additional roles, not backfill for termed employees. One just accepted the offer a week ago.
They are not done with company layoffs. This was communicated following Oct layoff and again in Q4
